Back to art and fashion.
During my stay in NYC for #NYFW 2016, I was determined to find the heart of art in NYC. Having family currently live in Bushwick, Brooklyn, I had the perfect tour guides. Luckily enough, my 16 year old cousin Janiah, is an aspiring photographer and attends an all girls school in the Upper East Side – so she knew all the grungy, industrial buildings that were covered in art from head to toe (She also took all of my pictures for this post).
Night ventures out in the city with my aunt and cousin is always fun; We started from Brooklyn and worked our way towards the city in the Upper East Side. Dying to see the MET STEPS (conically known in Gossip Girl) and all the art murals in Willamsburg, New York. We started in Brooklyn and worked our way towards the city lights.
All around the blocks, on the floor and along the walls, art is all around. Each block is proclaimed from all different artist. Logos, and hidden messages are dispersed all throughout Willamsburg. Trendy restaurants, Soul Cycle studios, and old theater cinemas, distinguish the city’s perks. Walking around in the winter breeze, only enhances the cities beauty.
Being the weekend of Valentines Day, everything in the city was lit up in either pink or red. Love was literally in the air. I wasn’t entirely prepared like I should of been with winter clothes since I live in Florida but I still put together this #OOTD last minute. One must- have item, I needed on this trip were my YEEZY BOOST 350. I typically wouldn’t wear them with high ankle socks, but I needed every inch of my body layered to survive that cold. During this time of #NYFW16, Kanye just made his appearance at Madison Square Garden to show off his new collection & listening party for his previous album “I Am Pablo” .

After exploring Willamsburg, it was off to the Upper East Side. Taking the subway to Grand Central Plaza, walking out of the station was like living in a movie. This was one of the coldest nights and has we walked more towards Manhattan, the cold was only hitting us more. Maybe it wasn’t the perfect night to go walk the MET STEPS, but it was the only time since my schedule was crunched with fashion show events. It was so cold, my camera and phone ended up shutting off as I got to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The wind was brutal, but the pictures were so worth it.

NYC has some of the coolest street art ever. I think it’s the style of the buildings and atmosphere that comes together that brings it all a bit higher. Just so amazing!
